We were inspired by Nesting dolls, which are best known and most popular of all Russian souvenirs. The Russian word for these wooden dolls is Matryoshka. The most traditional nesting doll design is one that looks like a young Russian woman dressed in Russian native costume with a scarf on her head!
Secret Diary created magical stationary to accompany this shoot, incorporating floral details and a color theme suited to the Matryoshka Doll. Fynbosch Flora took a bold leap and incorporated a blood-red velvet tablecloth, decorated with silverware, dolls and beautiful floral arrangements. With Russia being known for their ballet, we incorporated a beautiful pair of handmade red ballet pumps.
With the cake having a blue color palette, we felt like it would bring more softness to the shoot. The cake is hand decorated with Russian patterns in different shades of blue topped with a dark red rose for some color blocking.
Quench Jewellery designed the dazzling sterling silver pieces specifically for this shoot. The jewelry pieces are hand engraved and set with Biron emeralds, again accentuating the green leaf detail found on the floral designs on the Matryoshka Doll. The specific dolls we focused on have black hair and rosy cheeks and Anette beautifully incorporated that in our models hair and makeup. The Wedding Boutique provided us with a stunning dress and veil which made everything perfect!
